The cost of a biography or family history varies widely, depending on the number of interviews conducted, the quantity of photographs and other memorabilia included, the frequency with which changes are made to the draft, and so on.
Most biographies include 10-12 hours of interviews, which translate to the work which included transcribing, writing, scanning photos and documents, formatting, and so on. The cost of the books is not included in this pricing.
Long distance information gathering is generally done though the use of questionnaires and if we do need to meet outside of metro Phoenix it will be expensed.
The average cost for Memory Mementos to create your story is:
20-25 page book—$1,500-$2,500 (includes approximately 30 photographs)
40-45 page book—$3,500-$4,500 (includes approximately 60 photographs)
Printing costs are separate.
Factors that affect pricing include:
- Timely return of focused questions (several groupings)
- Interviews (Skype is an option)
- Transcribing
- Writing
- Scanning photos and documents
- Quantity of photographs and other memorabilia
- Formatting and graphic design
- Edits (additional edits after 2 drafts will be charged hourly)
- Number of pages in final book
A $500 deposit and signed contract is due upon accepting a proposal. Memory Mementos will invoice you monthly for hours used.
